The
district municipality located across the Eastern regions of South Africa’s Northwest Province, is a tourism
destination of enormous contrasts, diversity and economic
development.
The
word Bojanala means “tourism” in Setswana, while the
reference platinum acknowledges the role of this important
mineral in the regional economy. Platinum is mined close to
the town of Rustenburg
where some of the world’s largest mines are located.
To
the North, on the Botswana
border is the Madikwe Game Reserve, a vast, pristine,
conservation area and one of South Africa’s
foremost wildlife parks.
Further South is the Pilanesberg
National Park which
is adjacent to the world famous Sun City
and Lost City Resort; both are major South African tourist
attractions.
A
short distance North of the major metropolitan Pretoria — Johannesburg complex are
the cultural villages, craft markets, adventure and leisure
destinations and around the Hartebeespoort Dam bordering the
“World Heritage Site” Cradle of Human Kind.
